An immigration evaluation, or immigration psychological evaluation, is a mental health assessment that is regularly required for asylum, refugee status, and other types of immigration relief. They can reveal an individual’s need to immigrate due to emotional and psychological factors, such as trauma, mental health disorders, and psychological effects of persecution and abuse. The results of an immigration evaluation often lead to a more favorable outcome in an individual’s case.

Immigration evaluations are structured to ensure you feel supported, respected, and informed throughout the process. Here's what you can expect:

• Initial Interview Sessions:

You’ll meet with your therapist for one to two sessions, either in person or via secure video. These interviews will explore your personal history, emotional experiences, and the psychological impact of your immigration-related circumstances.

• Documentation Review:

You may be asked to provide relevant documents—such as legal paperwork, medical records, or personal statements—that help illustrate your story and support the evaluation.

• Additional Assessments (if needed):

Depending on your case, your therapist may administer standardized psychological assessments to better understand your mental health and provide objective data for the report.

• Comprehensive Report:

After all interviews and assessments are complete, your therapist will prepare a detailed evaluation report tailored to the specific needs of your immigration case. This report can be shared with your attorney or submitted directly to immigration authorities.

• Confidential and Compassionate Care:

Your therapist will approach your evaluation with cultural sensitivity, clinical expertise, and a deep respect for your lived experience.
